These beautiful one-of-a-kind prayer shawls (tallitot) are designed by Leah Sosewitz and fabricated by Marsha Kasanov of MKaz Designs. The collaboration between these two artists is called Ritual Threads and encompasses a variety of beautiful and unique fabric ritual objects.

Jacob's Ladder TallitJacob's Ladder TallitThis unique and beautiful tallit is made of sumptuous materials which tell the story of Jacob's dream of the angels climbing up and down the ladder. Details on the corners of this tallit are specific to the celebrant for whom it was made. Appliqued and embroidered with an incredible amount of detail, this is truly an art piece which was created on with the notion of hiddur mitzvah - or enhancement of the mitzvah. Jerusalem TallitJerusalem TallitThis beautiful tallit combines raw silk with other types of silk. The words from the liturgical "Ki Mi'Zion, tetze Torah translate as follows:
From out of Zion goes forth the law. And the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Tallit B'ha-alot'kha Tallit B'ha-alot'kha This tallit, hand made with hand painted silk, features a verse from the celebrant's Torah portion. A matching bag with the celebrant's name is included. The size of this tallit is 18" x 73" but can be made smaller if needed. Commission is contingent on fabric availability and time frame.
Tallit B'reishitTallit B'reishitThis incredible tallit was custom designed and fabricated by Ritual Threads for a client who requested that the tallit be designed with a creation theme. Hand painted silks of all kinds, both appliqu├ęd and embroidered give a vibrancy to this hand made tallit which was meticulously designed down to the specification of thread colors as one shape intersected another. The hand tied silk fringes complete this tallit in a special way. This is a one of a kind work of art that can be hung on a wall when not being worn. It is truly a work of hiddur mitzvah - enhancing of the mitzvot. Beauty enhances the mitzvot by appealing to the senses, contributing to the enjoyment of religious acts and soon the beauty itself takes on a religious dimension. The concept of Hiddur Mitzvah is derived from Rabbi Ishmael's comment on the verse,
"This is my God and I will glorify Him" (Exodus 15:2).


A commission such as this one is contingent on fabric availability and the artists' scheduling. A 12 month lead time is required for the making of a similar tallit. Please only serious inquiries.
Tallit Ki TavoTallit Ki TavoThis magnificent tallit was designed and fabricated by Ritual Threads for a celebrant whose Torah portion was Ki Tavo. Appliqued and Embroidered in beautiful silks, this design depicts an important part of the Torah portion. Details on the corners of the tallit are symbolic of the celebrant's name and haftarah. This is a custom tallit and as such, commissioning something of this nature is contingent on fabric availability
Tallit Va-yeraTallit Va-yeraThis tallit, made of silk, laser cut and fused, is based on the celebrant's Torah portion. The tallit comes with a matching bag which has the celebrant's hebrew name on the front face. Please contact the artist to discuss. Each of these is hand made and a commission is contingent on fabric availability and the artists' schedules. Please allow at least a 6 month lead time for a similar tallit.
